Scaling an organization is nothing more and nothing less than enhancing an alignment of moral aspirations. Moral aspirations are not man-made. They are intuitively known. The goal of leadership is to strengthen this abstract, yet definite - and profoundly significant, fabric that interweaves everything. Attention to detail. Conscientiousness. Ownership. These are the very elements that everyone agrees are good, and, in equal measure, disagree on how to scale. When Steve Jobs advised Howard Schultz to fire his entire leadership team, it was not so much an indictment of their technical competence but rather - a condemnation of collective moral failure. Scaling tech infrastructure is easy. Just add another VPN. Scaling office space is easy. Just rearrange the furniture. What is hard is the challenge of scaling a winning mindset rooted in moral incorruptibility. Especially in this postmodern age, where good and evil are perceived as cousins of contextual nuances. Yet, what is black is black, and what is white is white. No one in their right mind would call what is black - white, and vice versa.
