The best input metric a start up can measure - is failure velocity. The worst, is growth.

Growth is an illusion, especially if presented on powerpoint slides. This kind of growth, is nothing short of meaningless.

What really matters, in terms of culture, tech infra, product design - is failure velocity.

It not only important to fail, but, to fail FAST.

Its not good enough to be the biggest failure. Better - be the fastest to fail, consistently.

The idea is NOT to fail, and fail, and fail - but less, and less and less. The idea is to fail, and fail, and fail - but, faster, and faster , and faster.

This is the reason, I am neurotic about a 'report to office, no matter what, at 9:30 am' rule. Anyone who struggles with this, will inevitably fail fast. And consistentlty fail fast. Fast failures are rocket fuel for meaningful pivots.

This is also the reason, why goals must be grand and 10x beyond the current ability of the team. Realism is cute, but NOT rocket fuel.
